Raccoons, Take 2 !!!
Ok, I know it's been way too long but, I have an excuse this time.....   Our baby count went to over 40.    To make matters worse,  again this season, the Nursery was stricken with illness and there has been no time left in the day for updates.    On a sad note, we lost six of our smallest babies to this illness but, on the bright side, we were able to pull five through it.   This update too, will be short but, I hope sweet...
So please, enjoy.....

Meeko, Karl & Bobbie
Ok, How does this thing work?? - Meeko, was raised from a tiny baby by Beth and Dennis who live in Charleston.   He's very close to release age in these pictures and is now in the process of migrating back to the wild...   He's a beautiful dark brown Raccoon and is doing great.

Are you sure I can't eat this flower ?? - Carl came to use from Port Royal and quickly became Meeko's best friend.    They played hard and enjoyed getting into everything...   Carl too has now moved into Emerald City and is learning all about the great outdoors.

They stole my tail !!!  We knew those bandits were guilty of something.  Trouble is, we can't find the evidence..   Bobbie is a natural Bobbed Tailed raccoon.   We had a Bobbie last year but her tail had been bitten off.   This one was born without one.

Oh, I'm just so stressed,  I need a nap. -  Bobbie is my special joy,   She is such a doll.   I came very close to losing her to the illness but thank goodness, we pulled her through with a lot of extra attention.   Today's she's doing well and growing like a weed...

Knee Baby & Split

It hurts so bad !!-  Here is our latest arrival...   She has a tear in her eye for a good reason.   As a result of her fall from the Litter Den,  She has a split palate and can't nurse a bottle till it heals.   This is just another of the challenges we face when trying to help these babies.

It's not all pretty !!-  This little girl weighs in at a whopping 1 lb. and is only about 3-4 weeks old.  She's doing exceptionally well considering her condition and we are hoping we can pull her through.

The healing power of Mother Nature's Babies -  is sometimes amazing.  After only seven days, this baby's injury has healed to a point that she can now nurse a bottle.  If they could only fight off the many virus related illnesses that they get as well as they do wounds and broken bones.  See Raccoons, Take 3 for pictures of her all grown up

Pool Party !!! -  Nothing like a pool party on a Hot day...  Unless it's a pool party with a buffet.  These are just a few of this season's babies that have now begun to migrate back to nature.    They still sleep in the big cage but with the door open, they come and go as they please.   Of course, they still know where the easy water and food is...

Hey, get off my foot !-  Here's a trick some use to be sure they get plenty to eat...  They sit in the pan so no body else can get in it...  Of course, it doesn't take long till a scuffle breaks out and the pan ends up, upside down....
