"When I Dream !"
Last Update - 06/05/19

When we dream,   we dream of a world where humans no longer heartlessly destroy the beauty that Nature creates.
Please, Help us make our dream a reality.

Found an orphaned baby Opossum??
Secure them in a covered container, put them on a heating pad set on low, then immediately contact the nearest Rehabilitator, Vet, or Dept. of Natural Resources for help.... Do Not Delay.... The longer you wait, the less chance the baby has of surviving... If you've never successfully raised Opossums before, DON'T try to care for babies, without help.  Their dietary needs are critical and if not right, they will die or be seriously crippled.

All dressed up and no place to go! - Sometimes you have to dress 'em up to make 'em more attractive.  But that's only necessary for those seeing them for the first time.  Meet Paddy... He started out as Patty, till it was discovered he was a boy.

I'm not sure I'm gonna need Quite this much!- We look for things to keep them occupied while we feed the rest.   Of course, after feeding, there's always the paper work that has to be completed before the job's finished.

Hey, get off my foot !! - Let's see, one, two, three, four, and so on till you get to 47.  Opossums are busy this season and these little ones are being weaned. They're loving every minute of it too.  Of course, clean up is a tad more difficult.

2001 Opossum Release

Pet Carriers and Possum Pods as far as the eye can see! - Transportation to the release site can get quite difficult when you have 42 to release.  It takes all the carriers we can find to pull it of this season.

Hmmm, what's that smell?- Noses in the air, they take that first smell of freedom that they will enjoy for the rest of their lives.   It doesn't take them long to start exploring the new surroundings.

OK, let me down already!! - Paddy has lost his hat and tie.  Now almost fully grown, he's ready to explore.  But not before Dixie and Melissa get one last "Goodbye" hug.

So, where are we??? - Checking things out before getting too far from the security of the carrier, this one only takes a few minutes to wonder into the thick of the woods.  The new home we've selected this season is going to provide plenty of roaming room with little chance of encountering humans.

See ya around! - One last look back, and he's off on his new life's trail.  He'll never see headlights of an oncoming car like the one that killed his mother.  We wish him, and all the others, a happy opossum life.  We gave 'em the new start, the rest is up to them.......
