"When I Dream !"
Last Update - 06/06/19

When we dream, we dream of a world where humans no longer heartlessly destroy the beauty that Nature creates. Please, Help us make our dream a reality.

Found an orphaned or injured baby wild animal??
Then immediately contact the nearest Rehabilitator, Vet, or Dept. of Natural Resources for help.... Do Not Delay.... The longer you wait, the less chance the baby has of surviving... If you've never successfully raised wild animals before, DON'T try to care for babies, without help.

Everything is so blurry! - Once again, we see where man can cause harm to wildlife.  Something as simple as placing trash in a proper container could have prevented this near tragedy.   A peanut butter jar stuck on her head, this mother raccoon couldn't eat or drink and would have surely died if the jar could not be removed.  When rain flooded her den, even with a jar on her head, she tried to move her week old kits to a dry den.  Unable to carry her kits, she was forced to leave one unattended as she rolled them, one by one, towards the new den. While she returned to get another, the first one was killed by a dog.

If I didn't have this jar on my head, I'd bite you !! -  We watched as she tried desperately to remove the jar.  Finally, she came down the tree and I was able to capture her.  Even with a jar on her head, as you can see by cuts on my arm, she was still quite a hand full.  I was able to remove the jar and she wasted no time putting as much distance between us as she could.

The classic, GOT MILK??? - We took in the remaining two kits.  Here, at almost three weeks old, one of her babies is quite content after an early evening feeding.   At a little over three weeks of age, we placed them with a loving young couple that are giving the lots of TLC..

Hmmm, you think they forgot us ?? - These two were evicted from an attic.  As man continues to destroy their habitat, wildlife continues to try to survive any way they can.  An improperly constructed house makes easy access for a mother raccoon to make a dry litter den in an attic or chimney.  If you build near wooded areas, please include chimney caps and heavy wire in attic vents to keep animals out of your home.

Feeding time in the nursery! - Well, baby season is in full gear and with all the construction and tree cutting going on, we are loaded this year.  Bottle filled with formula are prepared prior to each feeding.  We're now spending over four hours at each feeding and the season has just started.

Hey, what's this brown stuff on my foot? -  Their new toys will be sticks, leaves, hickory burs, and such.  The dirt feels a lot different than the carpet and concrete they walked on for the first few months of their lives.  Now they have a whole new world to play in.

Hey, is this a flower?? - Nah, it's just a weed, but there will be many wild flowers in this little girl's life.  Lots of trees to climb and many wounders of nature to explore.  Just what a young raccoons needs to keep them busy.

WOW, look how high this tree is. - I bet you can climb to the moon on that tree.   Yes, lots of trees in which to explore and play.  This is Mother Nature at her best.

Hey everybody, are you watchin? - This youngster stops briefly to look back to see how high he is.   Or maybe he's just stoppin to check out at leaf.  Either way, he's free to roam and climb till he's tired.  Each of them will sleep well tonight after a long afternoon of discovery.

Bye Ya'll! - Popeye has decided he's gonna stay Free.  Nothing we could do would convince him to come home with us.  In fact, he made it real clear that we weren't going to get our hands on him.  Though he's blind in one eye, he and the 19 released with him will be just fine in their natural wild habitat.
