Free At Last !!!
Dixie and I have come to the most difficult time in the rehabilitation process........ Release Time. Two weeks ago we began what I call the -Limited Release- process... this is when we open the doors and let the kits decided when to come and go. They have begun to explore in the woods and as time goes on they will explore deeper until they finally stay and only come home to visit. Since Rosie and Maggie are still a little behind the older kits we make sure they are back home as it begins to get dark. We are also keeping Eagle back since his back legs have not gotten any better... It looks like he will be staying with us for quite some time... For now, they all enjoy playing in the woods and taking turns staying out all night.....
Hey, the Pool's gettin

Final Release and Update !!

Well, with the passing of October, it seems that the Grim Reaper has chosen to move on as well... We've stopped seeing sickness and death, at least for now... Our three surviving Raccoons, Scabs, Rosie, and Maggie, have come once again to that time in life when freedom is at hand.... We've completed all the antibiotic treatments and they all seem very healthy. On the 26th of October, they once again are allowed to roam free as we open the door to the cage for the last time... They are still visiting and have chosen to spend a night or two in the comfort of our bed but, we still let them go when they choose... I expect to see less and less of them as they return to the wild... Meanwhile, though we lost so many, Dixie and I have to be satisfied that a we could at least make a small difference for all raccoons and a very large difference for three......
